Cooked white asparagus spears wrapped with Gouda and cooked ham, breaded and fried until golden brown. Serving suggestion: as a main dish with potatoes or as a cold evening meal/appetiser.

  • 4 spears Asparagus (80 kcal)
  • some Salt
  • 1 pinch Sugar (4 kcal)
  • 1 slice Gouda (100 kcal)
  • 1 slice Cooked ham (70 kcal)
  • some Flour for coating (100 kcal)
  • 1 Egg (70 kcal)
  • Breadcrumbs (100 kcal)
  • Oil for frying (120 kcal)

Preparation steps

  1. Peel the white asparagus spears and cook them in salted water with a pinch of sugar until they are firm but cooked through. Remove from the water and drain thoroughly.
    • 4 spears Asparagus (80 kcal)

    • 1 pinch Sugar (4 kcal)
  2. Wrap each asparagus spear with a slice of Gouda, then wrap with cooked ham and secure with toothpicks. Alternatively, place the cheese on the ham slice and wrap both together around the asparagus. Coat the prepared asparagus parcel first in flour, then dip in beaten egg, and finally coat with breadcrumbs. Heat a sufficient amount of oil in a pan and fry the asparagus parcel on both sides until golden brown.

Notes
