What is myMealMate?
myMealMate is a digital recipe tool for private organisation of cooking recipes. Recipes from different sources are turned into a consistent, matter-of-fact structure and saved centrally in your personal recipe collection.
Who is myMealMate for?
myMealMate is for anyone who wants to collect, organise, and use recipes in practice—whether they cook occasionally or like to try new recipes regularly.
What do I use myMealMate for day to day?
With myMealMate you can store, adapt, plan, cook, and find recipes anytime—without long texts or distractions.
Is myMealMate free?
You can use myMealMate for free. When you sign up, you receive some credits as a gift. For additional features, you can top up your credit balance for a fee.
Do I need technical or cooking experience?

Recipes & usage

How do I add recipes?
You can add recipes via link, PDF upload, copy & paste, or manual entry. They are then structured automatically and saved.
Which sources can I use for recipes?
You can use recipes from websites, PDFs and Word documents, your own notes, and from photos or scans of cookbooks.
Can I import multiple recipes at once?
Yes. A PDF that contains multiple recipes shows all detected recipes in an overview after the initial read. You then choose which recipe to take over. Import happens per recipe, which keeps things structured and controllable.
Can I create my own recipes?
Yes. You can create your own recipes manually at any time and fully edit them.
How do I find my recipes again?
All recipes are stored centrally and can be found quickly via search, categories, or the overview.
Can I categorise or search my recipes?
Yes. You can assign recipes to custom collections. Recipes in a collection can then be shown quickly with a single click.

Recipe structure & presentation

Why do recipes look so matter-of-fact?
Recipes are presented in a deliberately factual way so the focus stays on ingredients, amounts, and preparation—clear and easy to compare.
Why are there no long introductions or stories?
myMealMate intentionally leaves out introductions and stories to make cooking easier and avoid distractions.
Can I edit the text in a recipe?
Yes. You can adjust all text, ingredients, and steps at any time. You can also store personal notes per recipe.
Can I adjust ingredients or preparation steps?
Yes. Amounts, ingredients, and workflows can be changed freely.
Does the structure stay intact if I change a recipe?
Yes. The clear base structure remains, even if you edit the content.

Household

What is a household in myMealMate?
A household in myMealMate lets multiple users share one recipe collection, one pantry, and one shopping list.
How do I invite more people to my household?
You can invite additional users via your profile. The invited person confirms the invitation in their own profile. After that, recipe collections are merged. If the household is dissolved later, each user keeps only their own recipes again.
How many members can a household have?
A household can have any number of members.
What is shared in a household?
Within a household, the recipe collection, pantry, and shopping list are shared.
Can all household members add or edit recipes?
Yes. Every household member can add, edit, or remove recipes.
Do all members share the same pantry?
Yes. The pantry is maintained jointly within a household and shown the same way for every member.
Do all members use the same shopping list?
Yes. All household members use the same shopping list—for example one person can add ingredients at home while another is already shopping.
Are changes to the pantry or shopping list visible to everyone right away?
Yes. Changes are visible at the latest after reloading the page. The shopping list periodically checks for updates and shows them automatically.
Can I leave a household at any time?
Yes. You can leave a household at any time. Afterwards, only recipes you added yourself are available to you.
What happens to my recipes if I leave a household?
Your recipes remain saved and are assigned to your user account only again.

Pantry & shopping list

What is the pantry in myMealMate?
The pantry is an overview of ingredients currently marked as available in a household.
How do I add ingredients to my pantry?
You can move ingredients from a recipe into the pantry once the relevant view is enabled. Alternatively, you can manage ingredients directly in the pantry view.
Can I adjust or change quantities in the pantry?
No. The pantry deliberately does not track quantities, to keep management simple and clear.
How does my pantry affect recipes?
All ingredients are matched against a central ingredient master database. Different names or variants of one ingredient (e.g. fresh parsley) therefore appear only once in the pantry.
How do I see which ingredients I am missing for a recipe?
After you enable “Match ingredients with pantry”, missing ingredients in the recipe are highlighted in colour.
How do I build a shopping list from recipes?
In recipe ingredients and in the pantry view there is a shopping-cart icon. When it is active (marked green), that ingredient is added to the shopping list.
Are ingredients from several recipes combined?
Yes. Thanks to the ingredient master database, identical or similar ingredients are merged and shown only once on the shopping list.
Does the shopping list take my existing pantry into account?
Yes. Ingredients already in the pantry can still be added to the shopping list if you want.
Can I edit the shopping list manually?
Yes. You can add your own ingredients or non-food items on the shopping list. Each line can also have a comment.
Can I check off or remove items on the shopping list?
Yes. When you tap an ingredient on the shopping list, it moves to the cart. After shopping, those ingredients can be added to the pantry automatically.
Can I delete or reset pantry and shopping list at any time?
You can delete items from the shopping list at any time. In the pantry, you can mark individual ingredients as not available.

Nutrition, calories & allergens

Does myMealMate show calories, nutrition values, and allergens?
Yes. myMealMate can show calorie, nutrition, and allergen information for recipes. This information is for orientation and complements the factual recipe view.
How does myMealMate determine calories and nutrition values?
Values are derived from the ingredients, amounts, and serving information in the recipe. myMealMate uses AI-assisted methods to map suitable nutrition data and calculate totals.
Are nutrition values and allergens calculated automatically by AI?
Yes. The calculation and mapping of nutrition values and allergens is automated with the help of AI, based on the recognised ingredients and their typical properties.
Can the shown calorie, nutrition, or allergen values be wrong?
Yes. Because values are determined automatically by AI, they can be incomplete, inaccurate, or wrong. They are not guaranteed or verified values.
Are nutrition values binding or only estimates?
Nutrition values are estimates for orientation. They are not binding and do not replace officially verified or labelled nutrition information.
Which serving size are the calculated values based on?
Values are based on the serving size stored in the recipe. If there is no clear serving definition, the calculation is based on a plausible assumption.
Do calories and nutrition values update if I change ingredients or amounts?
Yes. If you change ingredients, amounts, or servings, calories and nutrition values can be recalculated when you run the relevant AI process on the recipe edit page.
How reliable are allergen values for imported recipes?
Allergen values are based on automatic ingredient recognition. For imported or incomplete recipes, allergens may be detected incorrectly or incompletely—especially because products from different manufacturers can differ. No guarantee is provided.
Can I rely on these values if I have allergies or intolerances?
No. This is not binding allergen labelling. If you have allergies or intolerances, always check ingredients yourself and do not rely solely on automatic information.
Does myMealMate replace professional nutrition or allergy advice?
No. myMealMate does not provide medical, nutritional, or allergy counselling. All information is provided for information and orientation only.

Sharing, printing & export

Can I print recipes?
Yes. All recipes can be printed and are optimised for use in the kitchen.
Can I share recipes?
Yes. Recipes can be shared in any form. Sharing always uses the structured myMealMate view.
Which share options are available?
Depending on your device and environment, different share options are available (for example via system or app features). A link to the website is shared, which the recipient can open.
What does an exported PDF contain?
The PDF contains the factual, structured recipe view with ingredients, amounts, and preparation steps.

Ratings & feedback

Can I rate recipes?
Yes. Recipes can be rated.
How does the rating system work?
Recipes are rated using a simple star system. Five stars are an outstanding rating, one star is a poor rating.
Who can see my ratings?
Ratings are visible to other users if the recipe is public.
Can I change or delete my rating?
Yes. Ratings can be changed or removed at any time.
Can I leave feedback or notes on recipes?
You can add personal notes for yourself.
Do ratings influence other users?
Ratings help other users orient themselves, but they do not affect recipe content.

Account, privacy & security

Are my recipes private?
By default, recipes are public. You can change this setting in your profile.
Can I decide whether a recipe is private or public?
Yes. For each recipe you decide whether it is private or publicly visible. A simple click on the icon in the top left of the recipe image is enough.
Who can see my public recipes?
Public recipes are visible to all internet users.
Can other users see my private recipes?
No. Private recipes are only visible to you.
Which data does myMealMate store?
Only data that is necessary to operate the service is stored.
Can I delete my account and data?
Yes. You can delete your account at any time. All private recipes will be permanently removed from the database.

Subscriptions, payment & credits

How do credits work?
Each user has a balance of credits that are consumed whenever an AI feature is used. If you run out of credits, you can simply buy more credits.
What can I do with credits?
Credits enable using AI-assisted recipe enrichment.
What happens to my credits if I cancel?
If a user cancels their account, all data is deleted. This includes the credit balance. Credits fully expire.
Which payment methods are supported?
The website uses Stripe as the payment provider. Common payment methods include PayPal, credit card, or Amazon Pay.
Can I cancel my subscription at any time?
Yes. You can cancel anytime. Private recipes are then permanently removed from the database and personal data including the credit balance is deleted.
Is there an overview of my credit usage?
Yes. Your current credit balance and the AI requests you used are visible at any time.

Legal & copyright

May I import recipes from the internet?
Yes. Recipes can be added to myMealMate from any source. They are turned into an independent, factual structure focused on ingredients, amounts, and preparation.
Who owns the recipes in my collection?
The recipes in your collection belong to you and can be published voluntarily.
What does “factual recipe presentation” mean?
In myMealMate, recipes are reduced to the core cooking instructions. That means ingredients, amounts, and preparation steps are in focus—without narrative text, personal stories, or editorial content.
Why does myMealMate not use stories or original text?
myMealMate is not a food blog. It is an organisation and cooking tool. The focused view improves clarity, comparability, and practical use while cooking.
How is myMealMate different from food blogs?
Food blogs tell stories around cooking. myMealMate presents cooking instructions in a structured way, regardless of origin, and helps you collect and use recipes clearly.
Are there any restrictions on how I can use recipes?
No. Recipes can be used, edited, saved, and shared freely in myMealMate. myMealMate is a personal tool for working with recipes, not an editorial platform.
